Cary Elwes, who was so great in The Princess Bride and Hot Shots! and who, OK, has done some other things since, and Andie MacDowell, who was so great in Groundhog Day and Green Card and who, OK, has done some other things since, are teaming up for a new film. They'll star in As Good As Dead, along with the great Brian Cox and Laura Harring.

The film's about left-wing extremist Ethan (Elwes) - damn those Commies - who murders the Reverend behind a white-supremacist group (Cox) and goes on the run, pursued by the Reverend's widow (MacDowell) and her two redneck assistants. Harring will play Ethan's neighbour, while according to the Hollywood Reporter his estranged wife will be played by Jess Wexler. We're not sure she exists, but there is a Jess Weixler on IMDb so we're going to assume she's got the role. She's a mere 19 years younger than Elwes, so that makes sense.

Newcomer Jonathan Mossek is directing the film, which he co-wrote with Erez Mossek and Eve Pomerance, as good a collection of screenwriter names as we've seen since the Wibberleys.

It's being produced by First Line Entertainment and Edward Bass, who - it's also been announced - are currently working on Good Day For It, a modern-day Western about a man facing down the gang who exiled him from his town, and The Shadow of the Shah, a biopic of the last Shah of Iran's twin sister, who led the fight for women's rights there until the 1979 revolution forced her into exile.
