Cowboys & Aliens Teaser Poster Rides In

Jon Favreau has been dropping heavy hints about the image’s arrival for a while now over on his Twitter feed, but the time has finally come: the Cowboys & Aliens teaser poster has sauntered into the web’s virtual saloon, knocked the doors open, sat down at the bar and ordered a stiff shot of your eyeb…. Okay, enough metaphor. The poster’s below. Go look.

Even though his face is largely in shadow, we’ll go ahead and conclude that’s Daniel Craig front and centre, doing his “Aren’t I a moody cowpoke” pose beloved of manly action heroes and people who hold rifles/shotguns for a living. Also, he looks just like he did in the footage we saw at Movie-Con and Comic-Con.

As for the “aliens” part, that’s represented by the natty-looking techno-gadget that he’s got on his wrist, a piece of kit that’s definitely not from the Old West. Anyone who saw the footage from the movie at Comic-Con can attest that it comes in handy (no pun intended), and it’ll play a big part in the plot.

What’s the plot? Glad you asked? Cowboys finds a small Western town dealing with one big problem: Harrison Ford’s ruthless Colonel Woodrow Dolarhyde, a man who likes to make sure everything is done his way. Into town rides Jake Lonergan (Craig), a man with no memory but a strange glowing gizmo on his wrist. Soon after he arrives, alien ships follow and start blowing stuff up. The settlers realise that they, and the local Apache Indians, will have to put their differences aside to fight the new menace.

So does the pic work for you? Does it start getting you ready to see the movie? And does it have you itching to see more, including the trailer, which should be online in the next couple of days? Tell us.
