Since just about everyone who appeared in Inception (aside from maybe Leonardo DiCaprio) has either been rumoured for, or actually signed on to, The Dark Knight Rises, it seems only right that yet another story linking Marion Cotillard with the film has surfaced.
This time however, fan site Batman News has dug up a translated piece from a slightly more reputably source, even if it is one that doesn’t normally trade in film information. According to French newspaper Le Figaro, “The actress, who is expecting a child in the spring with Guillaume Canet, will be scarce this year. She’ll do a single film and her choice fell on **Batman **3.”
Cotillard has been talked about in relation to the new Batman outing before, but given her pregnant status, the stories have always been dismissed. But since the film doesn’t start shooting until later this year and has a long production stint planned, there does exist the possibility that she could have time to both enjoy her new family and fit in a role.
Of course, all this is still unconfirmed at the Bat-camp rarely announces anything until the director is ready, but with two solid female characters reportedly in the film (Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle/Catwoman and one other), there’s still a chance that Nolan could be looking to work with Cotillard again.
If she does sign on, she’ll join the Dark Knight players including old hands Christian Bale and Michael Caine, along with new faces Hathaway and Tom Hardy.
