With The Raid's Gareth Evans as one of its driving forces, homegrown TV drama Gangs Of London is gathering some more solid talent for directorial duties. Corin Hardy, currently seeing success with The Nun will handle three episodes of the show.

Evans dreamt up the idea alongside regular collaborator and cinematographer Matt Flannery, and they, along with Hardy, are looking to kick off shooting soon for a 2019 launch. Gangs Of London will be set in the present day and, as you might suspect, will see the city torn apart by power struggles between different international gangs. When the head of one such gang is assassinated, the authority void threatens a fragile peace between the underworld groups.

"Gareth and I share a mutual appreciation of each other’s work and an affinity for genre cinema, so it’s a real honour to become part of his & Matt’s intricate web of crime in their new show Gangs Of London," Hardy says. "The multi layered story weaves emotional drama with blistering action set pieces which I found enthralling to read. I am looking forward to bringing something rich and cinematic to the city streets!"

With Pulse Films backing the series, it'll be on screens via Sky Atlantic here and Cinemax in the US.
