Jennifer Connelly is in talks to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in thriller Blood Diamond.
The movie will be directed by The Last Samurai’s Ed Zwick and will plunge the two dashing leads into the horror of the civil war that gripped Sierra Leone in 1999. Leo will play a smuggler who specialises in trading blood diamonds – the precious stones used to fund the conflict.
When Leo's smuggler meets an indigenous Mende farmer, whose young son has disappeared into the army of child soldiers, the two men's fates become linked.
The story was written by Charles Leavitt, who penned Mighty and K-PAX, and shooting will start early 2006.
