After hitting it big with their screenplay for this year’s horror success The Conjuring, it seems writer-siblings Chad and Carey Hayes want to switch from terrifying families to making them fight. They’ve just sold the rights to their new spec script, **The Feud.

The plot for this one switches them to action thriller mode, tracking two Hong Kong families tangled up in a scrap that dates back centuries. We’re going to go out on a limb here and say there might just be a romantic pairing that crosses the divide, but of course it’s too early to know that.

Gulfstream Pictures will be picking up the tab on this one, producing the film for Warner Bros., which probably not so coincidentally is also the home for **Conjuring **producers New Line.

“We have been fans of the Hayes Brothers for years, and they are friends,” company boss Bill Bindley tells Deadline. “We have been trying to find something to do together. This fits in perfectly and we bought it pre-emptively. It’s a big thriller, set in Hong Kong. There is an Asian aspect to it and it is a big global movie by writers who are great with characters and at creating scenes that evoke suspense, as we saw in The Conjuring.”

Of course, they’ll probably also be busy scouring the files of Ed and Lorraine Warren – the real-life paranormal investigators played in The Conjuring by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga – for more episodes of scary fare to bring to the screen.** **James Wan's latest horror pic hits here on Friday.
