James Wan's Conjuring films are becoming spin-off factories. The original already led to the sequel, and to Annabelle, which itself has a sequel in the works. Now one of the creepy visions of The Conjuring 2 is getting her own outing, with the scary nun creature starring in a film called, not-so surprisingly, The Nun.

The Conjuring 2 isn't out in the UK until this week, so we won't provide too much detail, though you can see her scaring people in the trailer (it's lurking at the bottom of the page). But most interestingly, the creature (played by actress Bonnie Aarons in make-up) wasn't in the film until three months before release. Wan's film originally featured a more traditional horned beastie, but the director came up with the idea and asked the studio if he could make the change. Some digital tinkering with an image and a reshoot in March brought the nun to life.

David Leslie Johnson, who co-wrote The Conjuring 2, is on board for this one, which Wan will produce and, as with the Annabelle films, will hand over to some other director. So far, the Conjuring sequel has proved to be a strong performer, opening top of the charts in the States and elsewhere in the world outside of China. As mentioned, UK audiences get to see it this week, and you can see what we thought of the film right here.
