Almost ten years on from the release of The Commitments, Miramax are apparently planning to create a sequel. Showbizireland.com reports today that the original film's lead actor, Andrew Strong, has been in talks with Miramax to reprise his 1991 role. 'I got a phone call from Miramax,' he tells the site, 'who said they were making a Commitments 2. And they said we'd like to talk to you.' Strong, who in the past has scotched rumours that he would return to the only role he ever succeeded in, says that if the script is right, he'll sign. 'I met this guy called Warren Light from New York who's won some Tony award... then I agreed if the script was very very good I'd get involved again, maybe.' Efforts by Empire Online to confirm the story met with no luck. 'These rumours have been circulating for some time,' Alan Parker's production company told us. 'You probably know as much as we do.'
