Having dropped hints so heavy the Hulk would have trouble picking them up (mostly thanks to their Comic-Con advertising on San Diego's trams), the team behind Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. confirmed what some had already figured out: Ghost Rider will appear on the show in Season 4.
Gabriel Luna is the man chosen to play the Spirit Of Vengeance, though don't go expecting the name Johnny Blaze to come tripping off of anyone's lips. He'll actually be embodying the Marvel NOW! version, called Robbie Reyes, a Mexican-American who becomes bonded to the spirit of a killer who offers to help him sort out the gang trouble in his neighbourhood. The TV version will likely blend that idea with its own plot lines and find a new spin.
“Season 4 will unquestionably be the series’ biggest, most ambitious story yet, and it all begins with the introduction of one of our greatest legacy characters in Ghost Rider,” said Marvel Television's Jeph Loeb. “When the Spirit of Vengeance rides into S.H.I.E.L.D., it’ll change everything.”
So yeah... While Nicolas Cage won't be getting a phone call, the fiery skull-headed one will be back on our screens in a new venue.
