Back in the earlier days of the pandemic, John Krasinski brought a little extra joy into the world with his Some Good News show, a ramshackle web series that saw him spotlight good deeds and positive actions around the world. And while we thought he'd wrapped it up months ago ahead of a deal to sell the concept to a more traditional news outlet, he's brought it back for a Christmas special with the help of Dwayne Johnson, among others.
The usual mix of self-deprecating good humour and uplifting stories from around the world, Krasinski also had George Clooney on weather report duty and Justin Timberlake offering his services as replacement host.
But the biggest segment was dedicated to a dad who had put all of his comic book and other memorabilia for sale on eBay to pay for his kids' Christmas presents. Johnson agreed to cover his kids' wish lists and to provide him with an exclusive trip to DC Comics, plus a signed script once he completes work on Black Adam.
With new lockdowns, Tier changes and Christmas chaos in the UK and elsewhere, this was a welcome return, however brief.
