We've waited so long for some more inanimate objects to come to life, ever since the Poddington Peas or the Shoe People. So imagine our joy when it was announced that Christina Ricci will be starring as Yellow, a waxy little colouring crayon in her next film. Yes, really. The Hero Of Color City is about a bunch of crayons who must fight an evil tyrrant who threatens to rid their city of its colour and joy.
Directed by Becky Bristow, sometime director of animated TV show The Wild Thornberrys and an animator on Rugrats The Movie, it is produced by Exodus Film Group, behind this year's Igor - which co-starred one of the Color City voices, Arsenio Hall. Also joining the line-up are Rosie Perez (last seen on the big screen in Pineapple Express), and talkshow host Craig Ferguson.
The Hero Of Color City looks set for a 2010 release, and Simon & Schuster are in line to publish children's books based on the story. Hey, we've got a good idea for a tie-in product: how about a line of complimentary crayons?
