Dear Toni Collette’s family: don’t expect to see much of her during the next few months, because her schedule is about to be packed with work. A mere day after locking in a job on Nat Faxon and Jim Rash’s directorial debut The Way, Way Back, the actress is headed in two other directions, entering negotiations to join both The Long Way Down and Miss You Already.
Let’s tackle Miss You Already first, which would see Collette co-starring with Jennifer Aniston. The film finds Aniston’s character faced with the challenge of breast cancer at the same time that Collette’s preparing for the birth of her first child while her husband is away on business.
Director Paul Andrew Williams wrote the script for the film with Morwenna Banks, and it’ll kick off shooting this autumn in London.
Fortunately for Williams, Collette will already be in the city, as she’s spending the late summer period filming The Long Way Down, which Pascal Chaumeil will direct from Jack Thorne’s script.
It has been adapted from Nick Hornby’s novel, following four strangers who all decide to jump to their deaths from the same roof on New Year’s Eve.
Collette is looking to play the helpless single mother of a disabled young man, while Pierce Brosnan is negotiating for the role of a charismatic talk show host in the grip of a controversy.
Currently, Collette is busy shooting Sacha Gervasi’s Hitchcock alongside Helen Mirren and Anthony Hopkins, who we got a look at yesterday... Let's hope she builds in some time to sleep, eat and breathe somewhere in that schedule.
