Don’t worry – Colin Firth hasn’t succumbed to some horrible Oscar winner’s curse and been reduced to scamming people in an attempt to make easy money. He’s agreed to star with Emily Blunt in a currently untitled film about a man who fakes his own death to reinvent himself.

But between this and Gambit, he’s clearly got the taste for slightly criminal behaviour. Firth will star for ads director-turned-film man Dante Ariola in the tale of a man who decides that his old life is not worth living and pulls a Reggie Perrin, leaving everything behind.

And then he meets a woman is who doing something very similar, with the pair bonding over their shared need for something new. They end up breaking into empty houses to steal the identities of the owners. Naughty!

Beck Johnson wrote the script, which has the support of Focus Features International and Ariola plans to kick off shooting as soon as they’ve rustled up the cash from selling off the rights.
