Given his issues with technology in both Minority Report and Total Recall, we're almost surprised to see Colin Farrell jumping aboard a film featuring a robot. But that's what he's doing for After Yang.

A24 has Columbus director Kogonada writing and preparing to make the film, which adapts Alexander Weinstein's short story Saying Goodbye To Yang.

The narrative finds a father and daughter trying to save the life of their robotic family member Yang in a world where robotic children are purchased as live-in-babysitters. In the story, Yang has been programmed to help his little sister learn about her cultural heritage.

Farrell will next pop up in Disney's Dumbo, which lands here on 29 March. He'll also be seen in Guy Ritchie's new crime pic Bush (formerly Toff Guys) and action thriller Eve.
