Yet more casting news for Wally Pfister’s directorial debut Transcendence, with Cole Hauser the latest thesp to sign on.
Pfister, who has spent years working up to this point plying his trade as a cinematographer (most famously collaborating with Christopher Nolan), is directing the tale of a man (Johnny Depp) who creates a sophisticated computer. Like so many high-tech creations, once the machine develops intelligence, it starts going a bit Skynet.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hauser is playing a military officer, but that’s about all we know of the role. As with everything Chris Nolan produces, many of the details are still under wraps, though Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Morgan Freeman, Kate Mara and Cillian Murphy are all in the cast. Hauser was most recently been seen in **A Good Day To Die Hard **and Olympus Has Fallen.
