Two days ago the world woke up to more than just a slew of Super Bowl trailers — Netflix surprise-dropped the third Cloverfield anthology film, The Cloverfield Paradox, on its streaming service in a worldwide simultaneous release. But while the instant-arrival blockbuster created a huge talking point around the future of major film distribution, it seems the next film in the saga is still set for a more traditional release.

According to The Wrap, Cloverfield 4 (a World War II-set thriller currently going by the title Overlord) is still aiming for a cinematic launch later this year. Rather than shooting as a Netflix original, The Cloverfield Paradox began life as a Paramount project and was later sold to the streaming site in a reportedly one-off deal. That means that the overall Cloverfield saga, including Overlord, is still a Paramount property. Recent reports claim the fourth film has already completed shooting and is currently in post-production.

Overlord is currently set for a 26 October release date, and like all three previous Cloverfield films it comes from a relatively new director — this time it’s Australian filmmaker Julius Avery. The cast includes Wyatt Russell, who has anthology experience having starred in Black Mirror’s nightmarish VR horror episode Playtest, and Agents of SHIELD’s Iain De Caestecker.
