Though she once played Steven Seagal’s daughter in **Under Siege **2, Katherine Heigl is not the first name you think of when you consider action thrillers. Still, that hasn’t stopped her signing on to Nu Image/Millennium Films’ The Survivor opposite Clive Owen{
V For Vendetta/The Raven’s James McTeigue is directing the movie, which finds Heigl as an American State Department employee arriving in London to take a post at the US Embassy.
When the rest of her team is killed in a bomb blast, she has to go on the run for her life and clear her name when she’s framed for crimes she did not commit. Owen’s role isn’t specified in Screen Daily’s story on the film, but chances are he’ll end up helping her out as she tries to prevent a huge attack planned for New Year’s Eve (and no, it's not a screening of the movie New Year's Eve, though that is considered a contravention of international law).
Nu Image will be selling off rights to this one in Cannes and shooting is set to kick off in July. Heigl will next be seen in The Big Wedding (due May 29) and is part of the voice cast for ‘toon The Nut Job. Owen has worked on Blood Ties and** The Last Knights** and is busy filming rom-com-dram Words And Pictures with Juliette Binoche.
