Clint Eastwood continues to build his cast for the film adaptation of the Jersey Boys musical, and aside from a recent decision to add Christopher Walken, he’s largely casting stage actors and unknowns. The latest hires? Jeremy Luke and Joey Russo{
The movie, which will roughly follow the show’s plot about the rise and fall of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, tracks the formation of one of the biggest-selling groups of all time.
Luke and Russo are New York natives who moved to Los Angeles and run web series Turbo and Joey. Luke is aboard to play Donnie, a loan shark who demands money from Valli, while Russo will be Joe “Joey” Pesci (yes, the actual Pesci, who is a producer of the play, though the character's only based on him), who helped create the group.
Walken is aboard as Jersey mobster Angelo “Gyp” DeCarlo, who provides invaluable assistance to the fledgling performers. The film is set to kick off shooting soon and should be out next year, though no date has been set yet.
