With Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver back as the leads for James Cameron's four – count 'em – Avatar sequels, it's time for the director to start finding other people to help bring the world of Pandora and beyond back to life. He's cast Fear The Walking Dead's Cliff Curtis in a main role.
Curtis, who will start to shoot his part during his hiatus from the show, will be playing Tonowari, the leader of the Metkayina reef people clan, who we can assume are either friends or allies to the tribe we've already met. Cameron has previously said that some of the sequels' story will take place in the water, so having a reef clan makes sense.
Cameron has been working on the sequels for years, hiring writers Josh Friedman, team Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, and Shane Salerno to help him with the scripts and is finally kicking off production. The first of the sequels will hit on 18 December 2020, and the rest follow in 2021, 2024 and 2025.
Curtis also has a role in shark thriller Meg and the zombie show returns to screens on 4 June in the States and 5 June here.
