Clerks In Space?

Writer/director Kevin Smith is reaching for the stars with his new project. He is developing a sci-fi comedy based in space and aiming for the $45 million budget range.

Collaborating once again with Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Smith would look to move on from his indie roots, and onto a much grander scale.

Smith's biggest budget to date is on his latest flick Zack and Miri Make A Porno, which cost in the region of $25 million. But creating a movie in space is likely to cost significantly more cause you can't film it down at your local Kwik-E-Mart, as Smith is wont to do.

The comedy is said to follow a father-son relationship and reference plenty of sci-fi movies (let's start a sweepstake on how many Star Wars references there'll be!). The first draft of the script is finished and execs have expressed interest in making it.
