Murtaugh and Riggs are together again for the first time!

Actor Clayne Crawford, whose credits include Rectify and 24, has been cast as Martin Riggs in the Lethal Weapon TV pilot to be directed by McG. Made famous by Mel Gibson in Richard Donner's series of action films that launched in 1987, Riggs is the ex-SEAL who has tragically lost his wife and child and come to Los Angeles for a fresh start at the LAPD. There he's assigned to work with Roger Murtaugh (the previously announced Damon Wayans), who, having recently suffered a mild heart attack, is supposed to avoid stress as much as he can. Anyone familiar with Riggs from the films is well aware that that ain't gonna happen.

Crawford recently spoke in general terms about what draws him to acting: "It gives me the opportunity to explore human emotion without the consequence. I am intrigued by the human psyche, the decisions we make, the impulses, our feelings, fears and the desires that drive us. Performing in that way and that form of art is really rewarding to me."

Martin Riggs should give him plenty to work with.
