Chalk up another Chris Nolan/Wally Pfister veteran joining Pfister’s directorial debut, Transcendence. According to the team at Latino Review, Dr Jonathan Crane, better known as Cillian Murphy, is aboard the sci-fi thriller.
Murphy, who worked with the cinematographer on the three Batman films and Inception, is set to join a cast that already boasts Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara and most recent addition Morgan Freeman.
Pfister is certainly gathering a great ensemble for this one, which should be no surprise given that he’s got Nolan and Emma Thomas executive producing and he’s clearly got some chops.
As for the movie itself, it’s still being kept mostly quiet. The plot focuses in some way on artificial intelligence, but Pfister and co have been working hard to keep the actual details a mystery. Yes, everyone look astonished.
With a script by Jack Paglen, the cameras are set to start rolling next month, after which we might get more insight. But don’t hold your breath. Murphy is currently at work on a drama called **Cry/Fly **with Jennifer Connelly and Melanie Laurent.
