Ciaran Hinds is Justice League’s Steppenwolf

Ciaran Hands and Steppenwolf

You might raise your eyebrows at the idea that Ciaran Hinds could have recently been working on Justice League as villainous alien Steppenwolf given that the film wrapped a while ago. But then, this is the age of performance capture, where roles such as Josh Brolin playing Thanos for Marvel can happen after principle photography, and The Wrap brings word that Hinds has indeed been at work on the superhero team-up pic.

Steppenwolf is the creature – in some storylines allied to/a servant of even more dangerous alien Darkseid – we glimpse briefly in the deleted scene from Batman V Superman where Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor is seen communicating with him using the Kryptonian ship (you can see the moment below). He will, per the trade mag's report, be getting an upgrade in terms of his look. Which seems fitting as he'll be a big part of the new movie.

And the three boxes seen in the footage are the Mother Boxes, powerful macguffins that Steppenwolf will be after in the new movie. Of course, he's up against the allied forces of Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). Oh, and not forgetting a returned Superman (Henry Cavill).

Zack Snyder is busy in post-production on the movie, which will be out on 17 November next year.
