Ciaran Hinds Is The Devil

For the next Ghost Rider film, at least

Ciaran Hinds Is The Devil

He’s just signed on to deal with dark themes in The Woman in Black, but now it appears Ciaran Hinds is selling his soul to Satan. And since he’s negotiating to play the devil in **Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance wouldn’t that mean he’s selling it to himself?

The actor’s looking to co-star in a story that finds Nic Cage’s Johnny Blaze trying to hide from both the public and his curse in a remote corner of Eastern Europe. But even there he can’t battle his own destiny – he’s soon asked for help by a sect that is trying to stop the devil from taking over the body of an innocent mortal child when the boy reaches a certain age.

And there’s an extra twist that makes it personal: the kid is Johnny’s son.

David Goyer came up with the basic concept, which has been turned into a script by Crank boys Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, and they’ll start cranking the cameras in Romania and Turkey late next month. Italian actress and singer Violante Placido, last seen in **The American, **is also in talks to sign on, as the boy’s mother.

While the fact that the first **Ghost Rider **wasn’t all that great and the last time Neveldine and Taylor wrote about a haunted vigilante we got Jonah Hex has us worried, we’re hopeful they might make this one work a little better.
