Chucky’s Back In The New Child’s Play Trailer

Child's Play (2019)

Fans of the Child's Play franchise were understandably concerned when a reboot was announced that had nothing to do with creator Don Mancini and voice of killer doll Chucky, Brad Dourif. The jury is still out on the new film but here's a new trailer to make its case.

Following a familiar Child's Play formula, the film finds a kid (Gabriel Bateman's troubled Andy) given a toy by his mother, Karen (Aubrey Plaza), to help his mood after their move.

Unfortunately for Andy, his experience of a toy coming alive is nothing like that of the similarly named lad in the Toy Story films. Chucky (voiced this time by consummate tonsil talent Mark Hamill), you see, carries the spirit of a serial killer and has murder on his mind.

The new movie, directed here by Lars Klevberg from Tyler Burton Smith's script, also has Brian Tyree Henry, Tim Matheson and David Lewis in its cast. There's a solid twist in this case, with Chucky a connected, internet-of-things device able to control other, linked machines, but it still has to win over old fans and new. Stateside audiences will see this one on 21 June, but we're still awaiting word of a UK release.
