Warner Bros. have yet to reveal a title, cast or synopsis, but there's now at least a release date for Christopher Nolan's next film. To nobody's surprise it's the top secretest of top secret projects, but whatever it is, it'll be out on July 21, 2017.
That's essentially it, since no-one knows anything else. Oh, apart from the name of the screenwriter. It's, er, Christopher Nolan. The news of the release date comes a month or so after reports that Nolan had finished a "comprehensive draft" of the screenplay, which is thought to be an original (i.e. not adapted from a novel or based on an existing property).
Arriving on July 21, 2017 means that Nolan 10 shares a date with Pitch Perfect 3 and Luc Besson's Valerian. Besson has described Valerian as "The Fifth Element times ten". So we can perhaps infer from that that Nolan's next film isn't a sci-fi, since it's unlikely that two such films would go head-to-head the same weekend.
That date is also the weekend in between the third Planet Of The Apes (after Rise and Dawn) and the new Marvel/Sony Spider-Man re-reboot. July 2017 is looking busy.
More news as we get it, obviously. Michael Caine? Hans Zimmer? Get your Nolan bingo cards ready.
