Just when he thought he was out.... Despite saying on several occasions that he's ready to move on to other things after successfully delivering the Mission: Impossible franchise's biggest hit with Fallout, Christopher McQuarrie is signing back on for not one, but two new films in the series.

According to Variety, Paramount has struck a deal with the writer/director to craft two new movies, to hopefully start shooting later this year (after Tom Cruise finishes work on Top Gun: Maverick and anything else on his schedule) with a back-to-back plan that would enable the studio to release one film in 2021 and the other in 2022.

McQuarrie will start working on the script(s) and is probably already wonder what he's got himself into. Still, the appeal of working with his old mucker Cruise and the rest of the M:I clearly has some appeal and here's hoping Paramount is truly making it worth his while.

So as Fallout led to around six hours of Pod-chat between McQuarrie and Empire's own Chris Hewitt, expect the result of this new deal to mean an interview than runs for the better part of a month, toilet breaks notwithstanding. You can hear Part 1 of the epic Fallout conversation here, Part 2 here and Part 3 is sitting here.
