As if Bronson's Nicolas Winding Refn’s new thriller Drive didn’t already boast a sufficient wealth of acting talent, the director has recruited Mad Men star Christina Hendricks for a role.

Adapted from James Sallis’ crime novel by Hossein Amini, Drive follows a talented stunt driver (Ryan Gosling) who has a dangerous side life as a getaway driver for Los Angeles bank robbery gangs. But his life takes a turn towards the even more precarious when he agrees to help the boyfriend of his lovely neighbour (Carey Mulligan) pull off his latest crime. Unfortunately for him, the job goes badly wrong and soon he and the woman are on the run.

The cast also features the likes of Bryan Cranston, Albert Brooks and Oscar Isaacs, and though we don’t know what part Hendricks will be playing, it’ll just be nice to see her on the big screen. Especially in what we hope will be something special. She’ll probably need it after appearing in the lacklustre Katherine Heigl comedy Life As We Know It.

Drive kicks off filming in a couple of weeks around LA.
