Just yesterday it emerged that Steven Spielberg decided not to direct Moses epic **Gods And Kings for Warner Bros. The studio then started looking to Ang Lee to get it up and running so that the film can compete with 20th Century Fox’s own bearded biblical pic Exodus. With good reason, as that film has Ridley Scott looking to make it his next directing job and Christian Bale is being eyed to star.
According to Deadline, it’s still at a very early stage of talks between Scott, the studio and the Dark Knight himself, but the movie does boast some hefty clout behind it.
The script originated with Adam Cooper and Bill Collage, and was first brought to the studio by former Chief Operating Officer-turned-producer Peter Chernin in 2009. Since then, Scott and his production company hopped aboard and the director’s American Gangster collaborator Steven Zaillian has given the screenplay a hefty rewrite. Now Scott and Fox want this gearing up as soon as he finished work on The Counselor.
Bale is currently at work on David O. Russell’s new, untitled con man film alongside Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner, Alessandro Nivola, Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence. The thought of him taking on such a big, Ten Commandments-style epic is certainly an interesting one, but let’s see if he actually makes a deal first...
