It has been seven years since David O. Russell brought us 2015's Joy. After a frustrated attempt to get a TV series going, he's back in big screen territory with new caper Amsterdam, which boasts an absolutely stacked cast led by Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington. Find the first trailer below...
Described as a "romantic crime epic", Russell’s latest is a blend of fact and fiction as three close friends find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history.
Bale, Robbie and Washington are those three friends, a doctor, a nurse and an attorney who meet in Belgium and form a strong bond. When they witness a murder, Bale’s Burt is accused of the crime and will need help from his buddies and others to clear his name.
They're just a small fraction of the ensemble that Russell has assembled here – we can also expect Alessandro Nivola, Andrea Riseborough, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Rock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Shannon, Mike Myers, Zoe Saldaña, Rami Malek and Taylor Swift. Not forgetting, of course, Robert De Niro, who makes his fourth appearance in a Russell film.
Amsterdam will be in cinemas on 4 November.
