Considering how little he tends to work (at least when Brett Ratner’s not on the phone), you’d almost think there’d be some sort of alarm when Chris Tucker’s linked to a new project. Maybe a recording of his weird DJ from The Fifth Element? Anyway, no matter what it sounds like, Warner Bros. is pulling the chain to fire it up as the studio has just bought The Rabbit, a spec script that will likely feature him.
There aren’t actually any details about the screenplay to hand just yet, though we do know that newcomer Micah Barnett wrote it and, according to Deadline, it’ll be an action comedy in the Midnight Run mould. So that probably means Tucker being a loud mouth and getting tracked down for something, then forming an unlikely partnership with a grouchy, mumbling partner. But that’s just a guess, of course.
The only other solid information is that regular Warners producer Dan Lin – he of the Sherlock Holmes movies, and the man currently developing Tales From the Gangster Squad, Yucatan and Godzilla for the studio – will be shepherding it to the screen. Assuming it reaches that far, of course: first it’ll have to hop its way through the tangled undergrowth of studio development…
