The combination of Adam Sandler and Netflix has been a real mixed bag between the comedies he's pumping out under his deal with the streaming service (awful reviews, but apparently a lot of views) and his recent acclaim for The Meyerowitz Stories. With The Week Of, it appears he's back closer to the former territory, starring with Chris Rock in a knockabout new pic.
Co-written by Sandler with Robert Smigel (who also directs), The Week Of aims for a Father Of The Bride vibe channeled through its star's sensibilities. Sandler and Rock are the fathers of a couple who couldn't be more different. Yet the two men are forced to spend the longest week of their lives together as the nuptials of their sprogs approaches.
Will they learn to just get along, or could it all end up in casualty? Rachel Dratch and Steve Buscemi are also aboard the film, which heads down the digital aisle on 27 April.
