Now that Sony has finally given long-slumbering script Passengers a proper home, and hired The Imitation Game’s Morten Tyldum to direct, things are moving apace on the casting front. According to The Wrap, Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence are in early talks to star.

The story of a spaceship transporting thousands of human colonists to a distant planet, Passengers chronicles what happens when a malfunction causes one of them to be rudely awakened 90 years before anyone else. Unable to fix the situation and seemingly doomed to spend his time dying alone, he decides to take the unusual and controversial step of waking up a fellow passenger. Can love bloom in the echoing confines of the ship? We may finally find out. Doctor Strange /** Prometheus** scribe Jon Spaihts wrote the script in 2010 and it’s taken this long to find a suitable home, finding and losing directors and stars along the way.

Yet while Pratt and Lawrence appear interested, it’s still early days for their involvement as they’re both very busy. Pratt has Antoine Fuqua’s** The Magnificent Seven**, Cowboy Ninja Viking and the second **Guardians Of The Galaxy **ahead (plus a likely hefty press tour for Jurassic World), while Lawrence has David O. Russell’s Joy and Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse on her schedule, plus promotional duties for the final **Hunger Games **film and an attachment to Francis Lawrence’s watery drama Dive.
