Thanks to Guardians Of The Galaxy, we're used to seeing Chris Pratt dealing with being transported somewhere he has to deal with aliens and conflicts. So he's on familiar – if slightly darker – territory here via Amazon sci-fi film The Tomorrow War. Check out the full trailer for the movie.

Written by Zach Dean and marking the live-action debut of The LEGO Batman's Chris McKay, the film has a compelling sci-fi concept: the world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future, mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species.

The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Pratt). Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (JK Simmons) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.

With Edwin Hodge, Sam Richardson and Betty Gilpin also in the cast, The Tomorrow War hits Amazon on 2 July.
