He’s warping around our screens now as Captain Kirk in Star Trek Into Darkness, but Chris Pine has his eye on a slightly more sedate form of transport. He’s agreed to take a small role in Joe Carnahan’s new film, **Stretch.
The movie, a low-budget comedy thriller, finds Patrick Wilson as a limo driver who needs a cash infusion to solve big debt problems. He sees a golden opportunity when the chance arises to drive a billionaire around, but he doesn’t count on the man being a total git who puts him through hell.
Pine’s role – technically more of a cameo, according to The Wrap – is being kept quiet. And it represents the actor paying back the director who helped kick his career to the next level (or at least got him noticed outside of rom-coms) with Smokin’ Aces.
Pine will next be seen in another big franchise film, playing the title character in Jack Ryan, which is out on December 26. He's also in the news today with reports that he may take a role in the big-screen version of **Into The Woods.
Carnafans (come on, if Hiddleston and Cumberbatch can have fan names, then surely Carnahan can) may note that he directed the pilot for a new show on US network NBC called The Blacklist. Take a look at the trailer below.
