Given the reaction to the last time someone tried to make a live-action film of Dungeons And Dragons, you'd have to wonder if anyone would be brave enough to try agin. But Paramount, Hasbro and eOne are unafraid, having snapped the rights up when Warner Bros. let them slip. Game Night directing duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are, perhaps fittingly aboard, and they've rounded up their first actor, with Chris Pine making a deal to star.

What Pine will be doing in the film remains locked in a dungeon somewhere, like all the plot details, but we predict combat, creatures, magic the requisite dungeon/dragon combo given the board game's usual setup.

Daley and Goldstein also wrote the script for this latest incarnation, building off of work by Michael Gilio. Pine, of course, returns to our screens (British ones, whichever are actually open in just a day) with Wonder Woman 1984 and is currently shooting Olivia Wilde's latest, Don't Worry Darling.
