Alien Vs Predator; Freddy Vs Jason; Jump Street Vs Men In Black? Back in December those unscrupulous types taking the Sony hack as their source material were reporting the bizarre notion that the follow-up to 22 Jump Street might be a crossover with the Men In Black franchise. Now the notion is officially out there, addressed by co-writer / director Chris Miller. "It's a really interesting concept," he says. Yes. Yes, it is.

How would it work? That's yet to be thrashed out. "It’s very, very early on in this crazy fever pitch," Miller tells Coming Soon, "but it definitely makes you think. Talking about it, developing it with Jonah and Channing and Rodney (Rothman, co-writer) and the studio, we can’t just do the 'Hey, it’s the same thing again'-schtick because we did that already."

You might have felt that there were 20-odd other concepts to choose from first, given the end credits of 22 Jump Street, but Miller seems pretty adament that none of those jokey teasers are on the cards because they've already happened.

"Those are canon, all 22 sequels," Miller insists. "If we’re going to do something, it’s got to be different but still have that same very specific Jump Street flavor to it."

There's no mention of whether Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith would be remotely likely to show up. We're going to stick our necks out and say "They won't". But will we really, at some point in the near-ish future, hear Ice Cube say, "You two sons of bitches are going to alien school"? We'll be watching this one with a great deal of interest...

Miller and Phil Lord's TV series The Last Man On Earth starts in the US on March 1.
