Having just starred in George Miller's action epic Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and with Transformers One already well on its way, Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth could be forgiven for taking a moment to catch his breath over the summer. But before we've even had chance to see his take on Optimus Prime in Josh Cooley's Autobot origin story, the Thor star has already put another buzzy project in his pipeline. Per Deadline's reporting, Apple Original Films has won a hotly contested bid for The Corsair Code, an original sci-fi movie set to be led by Hemsworth.

Based on a short story by The Adam Project scribe Jonathan Tropper, who will also pen the screenplay for this one, plot details about The Corsair Code are closely guarded at present. For now, all we actually know about it is that it's being described as a "high-octane, sci-fi mystery adventure." Whilst admittedly that's not exactly much to go on, we are at least fans of all things high-octane, sci-fi, mystery, and adventure — so it's a promising start. And given Hemsworth's genre chops from his MCU days and Tropper's knack for some nifty sci-fi storytelling as seen in The Adam Project and Jason Momoa-starrer See, the potential's certainly there already for a moviemaking match made in heaven.

News of Apple's acquisition of The Corsair Code comes off the back of an exciting couple of weeks for Tropper, who has now been confirmed as the writer for Shawn Levy's upcoming, as-yet-untitled Star Wars movie. It's also an announcement that comes at a busy time for our favourite Australian Hollywood Chris, Mr. Hemsworth, who's currently in pre-production on his eagerly awaited Hulk Hogan biopic and has recently been in talks to lead Hasbro's long-gestating G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover. But until we get further word on this slurry of exciting upcoming projects, including The Corsair Code, we can next look forward to seeing — or, more accurately, hearing — Hemsworth in Transformers One when it hits our screens on 11 October. Autobots, roll out!
