Chris Hemsworth Goes To War In The 12 Strong Trailer

Horse Soldiers

Chris Hemsworth is back on our screens next week in Thor: Ragnarok, which finds him in fun Marvel battle mode. Things look to be a little more serious in the first trailer for 12 Strong, which is now online.

Formerly known as Horse Soldiers (and that is still reflected in the movie's subtitle, The Declassified True Story Of The Horse Soldiers), 12 Strong tells the true story of a small band of American soldiers in Afghanistan joining forces with local Afghan troops to fight the Taliban on horseback, navigating the unforgiving terrain with World War I-era tactics.

There's a definite feel of the likes of Black Hawk Down here (perhaps not shocking given they share a producer in Jerry Bruckheimer), and it risks being seen as a throwback. But there's certainly validity in its message of co-operation.

Hemsworth is joined in the cast by Michael Peña, Michael Shannon and Moonlight’s Trevante Rhodes. Nicolai Fuglsig is directing. 12 Strong arrives in cinemas next year.
