You can't be a Human Torch or a Captain America all the time. Ditching the Steve Rogers superheroics temporarily, Chris Evans is about to make his directorial debut, with the indie drama **1:30 Train. He'll also star in the film, penned by veteran screenwriter Ron Bass (Rain Man).
Set in New York, the story involves a young woman rushing to catch the titular train to Boston and, for reasons so far unspecified, reach home before her husband does. She gets robbed and stranded in New York's mean streets en route, but luckily there's help at hand in the form of a street musician: specifically a down-on-his-luck saxophonist (Evans' role). As the night progresses and the pair learn more about each other, they start to kindle a romance.
That synopsis sounds like a cross between Before Sunrise and Judgment Night, but we suspect that the film's current IMDb description as a romantic comedy drama puts us more in caper territory.
McG is among the producers, along with Evans himself, and shooting is due to start in the autumn, before Evans heads for Stephen King territory in The Ten O'Clock People, and straps on the star-spangled shield again for Avengers: Age Of Ultron. He's also just completed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Bong Joon-ho's futuristic Snowpiercer and Justin Reardon's comedy A Many Splintered Thing.
