Having hung up his MCU shield and then dominated the world of mysterious knitwear in Knives Out, Chris Evans is looking for a new challenge. And, after telling The Hollywood Reporter last year that he'd want to play the dentist in the new Little Shop Of Horrors film, he's in talks do exactly that.

If he makes a deal, he'd be part of the cast for the new movie, which will follow the familiar story of Seymour Krelborn, a nervy florist who discovers an alien Venus flytrap plant that has a taste for human flesh. It helps him boost his confidence and woo love interest Audrey, but the ever-growing leafy lunatic's demands soon outpace Seymour's ability to feed it.

Taron Egerton and Scarlett Johansson are also in talks to star, though the Reporter cautions that their deals are not closed to play Seymour and Audrey, the woman he loves. Pose's Billy Porter is more officially aboard to voice the plant. If it all works out for Evans, he'll be Orin Scrivello, Audrey’s abusive and sadistic boyfriend who finds great pleasure in his chosen profession. Steve Martin played the role in the 1986 movie, adapted from the musical and before that, the 1960 Roger Corman film.

Greg Berlanti is in the director's chair, with Matthew Robinson working on the most recent draft of the script. There's no word on a release date yet, but Warner Bros. wants the movie shooting this summer.

Evans will next pop up in Apple TV+ series Defending Jacob, which will launch on 24 April.
