Chalk another rumour up to the ever-expanding list of possibilities flying around the new Superman that Warner Bros. is aiming to get off the ground: according to Superman Homepage, Chris Columbus is the studio’s current favourite to direct the eventual movie.
Naturally, there’s nothing even approaching official about this, and given Columbus’ recent output (Percy Jackson, I Love You, Beth Cooper), we’re not sure he should be let within 500 miles of the project.
But the studio still views him with affection since he launched the **Harry Potter **franchise that has gone on to earn plenty of money (though not, apparently, enough that it goes into profit).
And while writer David Goyer has expressed a desire to make the movie himself, he hasn’t exactly proven that he’s a reliable hand at the megaphone either, what with Blade Trinity, The Invisible and The Unborn all turning out as disappointing misfires.
We’ll have to wait and see if the idea of Columbus being offered a shot at the son of Krypton ever materialises into anything…
