With Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson on to star, the latest film based on 1964's Bedtime Story (and its own remake, 1988's Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) was already on a fast track, but needed a director. It has found one in comedian/actor Chris Addison.
While he might be better known for his work in front of the camera in shows such as The Thick Of It, Trying Again (which he co-created with Simon Blackwell) and movies including In The Loop and The Look Of Love, Addison has been building up a healthy resume behind it, working as a producer and director on Thick Of It and Veep and parlaying that (plus awards from the Director's Guild of America and the Emmys) into gigs on US shows Fresh Off The Boat and Playing House.
Now he'll be overseeing his first film, directing Hathaway and Wilson in the story of two female scam artists – one who is high-class, the other decidedly less so – who target a naive tech prodigy and his fortune. Jac Schaeffer is writing the script, but there's no announced release date for this one just yet.
