She's in talks for Karyn Kusama's latest

Chloe Moretz Stuck In The Rut?

Director Karyn Kusama hasn’t exactly had the easiest time of it in the last few years. Back in 2000, her indie hit Girlfight, which helped launch Michelle Rodriguez, was acclaimed. And then she made Aeon Flux. Which… wasn’t. She followed that up with last year’s Diablo Cody-scripted Jennifer’s Body, and again met with little praise (and even less box office success). Now she’s developing a new project, which bears the working title **The Rut and might just star Hit Girl herself, Chloe Moretz.

According to the LA Times, Kusama’s latest keeps up the female empowerment trend, though it’ll be something much closer to the lower key tone of her first film. The Rut will follow a daughter whose father was heavily into hunting, and who must educate herself on shooting and fishing to help out when pops goes missing.

That’s about it for info, and if Moretz does sign, it’ll be the second tale of a girl forced to grow up quickly that she’s agreed to star in this year, with tough indie drama Hick also on her schedule.

Right now, however, she’s busy working with Martin Scorsese on his first kids’ film (and first attempt at 3D), Hugo Cabret, in London.
