Back in February, it was reported that Charlize Theron was in talks to star in and produce an adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel Dark Places. It would appear she’s locked, as she’s now hunting down co-stars. The first in her sights is Chloe Moretz, who has started talks.

Theron will play Libby Day, a woman whose family was slaughtered in what appeared to be a Satanic cult ritual when she was seven. Back in the day, she pointed to her brother as the culprit, testifying against him in court. Now, 25 years later, the Kill Club, a group obsessed with notorious crimes, confronts her with some searching questions about what actually happened that day. Libby’s inspired to dig into the matter herself and discovers some potential new suspects.

If she signs, Moretz will be a young woman named Diondra, who knows Libby’s brother, Ben.

Gilles Paquet-Brenner wrote and will direct the adaptation, which has backing from Exclusive Media. Moretz is, as ever, in demand. She's currently in talks for a new comedy called Laggies alongside Anne Hathaway and will next be seen in **Kick-Ass 2 **and Carrie.
