Fresh from burning the prom in **Carrie **and donning Hit Girl's mask again for Kick-Ass 2, Chloe Moretz's next role may be a less physically punishing affair. She's in talks to join the cast of Olivier Assayas' drama **Sils Maria. If she does, she'll be co-starring with Juliette Binoche and Mia Wasikowska, who are both already on board.
The title refers to the film's Swiss location - it's a hamlet on Lake Sils - and the story involves Binoche's aging actress who is "obsessed with her past choices", both personal and professional. Tied up in her life re-evaluation is the young up-and-comer who's now successfully reinterpreting a particular role that she once made her own. Moretz would be that newbie, named Joanne. Wasikowska's role is as Binoche's assistant. Long-suffering assistant, by the sound of it.
Assayas wrote the film specifically with Binoche in mind, and the New York-based IFC Films seem to see great potential in it, recently snapping up the US distribution rights without even waiting for them to be officially shopped at Cannes.
If Moretz signs up, it'll make for an exceptionally busy year for her, since she already looks to be turning out for Lynn Shelton's Laggies (with Anne Hathaway and Sam Rockwell) and Gilles Paquet-Brenner's Dark Places (with Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult). Plus, there'll no doubt be publicity tours for the aforementioned horror and comic-book flicks... Can she possibly fit it all in?
Kick-Ass 2 is out in the UK on July 19, with Carrie following on November 29.
