Though the news about Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness has been less than positive of late (mostly its release date getting pushed back by the pandemic delays), there is something more heartening to report today, as Screen Rant has talked to Chiwetel Ejiofor, who confirms he'll be back as Baron Mordo.
At the end of the first movie, it was revealed that Mordo had darker plans for sorcery and the mystical arts than anyone really suspected. So we can imagine he'll be causing trouble for Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme in the follow-up.
Sam Raimi is aboard to direct the movie, replacing the first film's Scott Derrickson, who left this one due to creative differences with Team Marvel. According to Ejiofor, the aim is to kick off shooting before too long. "We're hoping to start pretty soon is what I can tell you. So, you know, as soon as possible. We're all really excited to get going and to get cracking with it. I can't wait." The movie had been scheduled to shoot in May, but Covid shutdowns got in the way of that, though Raimi and his collaborators have started pre-production remotely.
Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff is also showing up in the film, as her Disney+ TV series, WandaVision, ties into the plot, which is still a secret for now. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is currently scheduled to materalise in UK cinemas on 25 March, 2022.
