After a successful festival run which included winning a Golden Leopard at Locarno and Best Film at last year's LFF, Athina Rachel Tsangari's Chevalier is finally ready to drop anchor in UK cinemas. Check out the trailer for the movie below.
Chevalier finds six men out on a luxury yacht in the middle of the Aegean Sea. To help pass the time between trying to catch fish, they decide to play a game to discover who is the "best in general". The rules are relatively simple: the passengers award each other points for comparing a wide variety of things, and the man with the most points at the end of the trip gets to wear the signet ring that gives the film its name.
Of course, things soon degenerate into abject madness as the players look to score points for any number of wayward behaviours. Friendships are tested, allies will become rivals (and vice versa) and songs will be butchered.
Tsangari wrote the film with Efthymis Filippou, and it features Makis Papadimitriou, Sakis Rouvas and Yorgos Pirpassopoulos in the cast. Chevalier will be out on July 22. Bring a life belt.
