With the music star herself turning 75 this week, it seems somehow appropriate that Cher's life is getting the biopic treatment courtesy of Universal.
The film has no official title yet (surely If I Could Turn Back Time is just sitting there) and no director, but Eric Roth is working on the script, which will chart Cher's fascinating, successful life. She's spent six decades working in music and movies, and at this point, only needs a Tony to reach EGOT status.
Roth worked with her when he wrote 1987's Suspect and the film will also feature two filmmaking friends of Cher: producers Judy Cramer and Gary Goetzman, who brought her into Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
“Gary and I are thrilled to be working with Cher again and this time bringing her empowering and true life odyssey to the big screen. One cannot help but be drawn to and inspired by Cher’s larger than life talent, fortitude, unique wit, warmth and vision,” says Cramer. "Her unparalleled success in music film and TV have inspired generations. We could not be happier to tell her story to cinema audiences."
