It seems that barely a day goes by of late when we haven’t written a story announcing the addition of yet another cast member to The Tooth Fairy, the fantasy comedy starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
First it was His Rockness, then Ashley Judd, then Julie Andrews, then Stephen Merchant, then Raul from accounts, then Shirley from reception, then that jovial homeless guy who sits on the bench outside Empire with a constant grin on his face and who Empire once saw offering a joint to some passing police officers.
But with today’s addition of Chase Ellison, we’re pretty sure that that’s it. Finito. Done. Over.
Ellison, a fourteen year-old actor who automatically sounds like an insurance company (one that’s in sound financial health, of course), will play the son of Judd’s single mother in the comedy, which sees John ‘The Son’ Dwaynerock play a temperamental hockey player nicknamed The Tooth Fairy, who becomes an actual tooth fairy for a week.
Ellison’s Randy is the catalyst for that transformation, when Johnson – who’s Judd’s boyfriend – discourages him in some way, prompting a punishment from the tooth fairy governing body. Or something.
A big-budget family comedy like this might be new territory for Ellison, who’s appeared in the weighty likes of Alan Ball’s Towelhead and the Julia Roberts indie, Fireflies In The Garden. But we're sure he'll fit right in.
Filming on the Michael Lembeck-directed 20th Century Fox family comedy will begin in Vancouver on Friday.
